Ballot Measures
Seattle: “Yes on Prop 1"
Seattle’s first-in-the-nation Democracy Voucher Program gives everyone a stronger voice in local elections and limits the influence of big moneyed interests. The program gives every eligible resident four $25 vouchers they can use to support candidates running for local office. Candidates who qualify and agree to strict rules and spending limits can receive these vouchers as part of their campaign funding. Proposition 1 renews this program by continuing a small property tax for Seattle residents.

Washington Families for Freedom
Defending against any of the Let’s Go Washington initiatives that attack LGBTQ+ youth: Washington state students face new threats from millionaire extremist Brian Heywood. Heywood’s organization, Let’s Go Washington, is working to qualify two extreme ballot measures that could change the future of our public schools in our state:
-
One initiative would repeal the Safety Act, placing the “Parents’ Rights” fight back into the arena once again. It would take away legal privacy protections for students and families, eliminate non-discrimination policies for homeless, immigrant, neurodiverse, and transgender students; empower broad parental opt outs, silencing classroom conversations about race, gender, our real history, and more.

-
One initiative would block transgender girls from playing on girls’ school sports teams. Some versions of the measure would even require all students to go through invasive medical exams or testing to “prove” their gender.

These two initiatives to the legislature attack student privacy, erase equal education, and target youth who are different or vulnerable. The initiatives also repeal protections for undocumented, homeless, disabled, and transgender students. Washington Families for Freedom is working to stop these harmful policies and protect fairness, dignity, and equal opportunity for every student.
