2025 Federal Questionnaire 

Candidates, LifePac will be selective in what it posts regarding candidates, with your review, but here are some options for letting the electorate know your position on the respect for life:  You can copy and paste some or all of the survey questions below into your word processor, type your answers and send to vote4life@lifepac.org.  Alternatively, you can compose your own statement using some of the survey's themes.  Survey responses will be authenticated before use.  Please use your Election Department registered email account for correspondence.  You can also email us for a phone or in person interview, from which LifePac will write an interview report for posting.  Finally, you can post a pro life statement on your campaign website and make sure we know about it.  If you are pro life, you can use our graphics on your website, such as the one to the right.

 

A CONSISTENT ETHIC OF LIFE AND THE COMMON GOOD
A Consistent Ethic of Life and The Common Good (e.g. Strong Families) require the broad application of moral principles valuing the sanctity of human life, the use of strict principles of justice, and the promotion of respectful and inclusive dialog.  While the major threats to life (abortion, fetal plundering, euthanasia) are nationally debated, there are local manifestations that can be addressed, such as failing schools, library pornography, problem pregnancies, homelessness and crime.  Threats to The Common Good include governmental despotism, illicit acquiescence to special interests (e.g. the abortion lobby) and governmental coercion (e.g. State agencies) that promote moral degradation, and the violation of the principle of subsidiarity (keeping political power as local as possible).   Will you as an elected official work for public policy that promotes a Consistent Ethic of Life and The Common Good?

PLANNED PARENTHOOD
The nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, in the 2022-23 fiscal year received $699 million in tax payer funding and aborted 392,715 babies.  Should Planned Parenthood receive funding from the federal government?

CONSTITUTION
The 14th Amendment states "nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty or property without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." The Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade, 1973, stated that "if this suggestion of personhood is established, the appellant's case, of course, collapses, for the fetus' right to life would then be guaranteed specifically by the [14th] Amendment." The Court regrettably concluded though that "we need not resolve the difficult question of when life begins. When those trained in the respective disciplines of medicine, philosophy, and theology are unable to arrive at any consensus, the judiciary, at this point in the development of man's knowledge, is not in a position to speculate as to the answer." Do you believe that  the State has a compelling interest in protecting human life beginning at conception?

 

The US Supreme Court in Dobbs v. Jackson (2022), overturned Roe v. Wade's constitutional right to abortion.  Abortion regulation was returned to the States.  What is your position on this ruling?

REGULATION OF RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA
Recreational marijuana was legalized in Washington State in 2012 by Initiative 502, though it is still illegal federally, being a Schedule I substance.  The drug is considered dangerous by many, including the FDA, the AMA, and The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  The White House Office of National Drug Policy opposes the legalization of the drug for public health reasons Citizens Against Legalizing Marijuana (CALM) states "The normalization, expanded use, and increased availability of marijuana in our communities are detrimental to our youth, to public health, and to the safety of our society."  The Alaska Association of Police Chief describe some of the negative aspects of legalizing the drug here.   For additional dangers see here, here, here, and here What is your position on the normalization of marijuana use in the country?
